Similarly, good optics mounted on a rifle have the capacity to make a difference in the overall service delivery of the same.

Trijicon MRO

Trijicon 1x25 MRO 2.0 MOA Adjustable Red Dot review

General Information

The Trijicon MRO is an extremely rugged optic device that has been made in the USA and features the red dot style, with no magnification. The irony is that though the product hasn’t been designed to e a cheap piece of optics, it is relatively very affordable indeed. The piece has been designed with strength and durability reigning supreme thus being able to hold zero even after some of the most brutal treatments you can imagine.

Trijicon MRO construction features the same materials and procedures used in the construction of the company’s formidable ACOG sights thus ensuring that it offers the same levels of reliability. With a 7075-T6 forged aluminum construction, you have something more superior than most of those optic devices you know off.

Pricing and Availability

The pricing of the MRO is aggressive. Aggressive in the sense that, amateurs may think it to be expensive yet in real sense, it is very cheap. At the retail price, cheaper than the Aimpoint Micro red dot sights, which comes with a comparative performance quality as that of the Trijicon MRO. And the good news is that upon reading this Trijicon MRO review and becoming content that this is the product you need, it is very much available in most on-site shops as well as the major online stores such as Amazon.

Size and Weight

It comes with a 25mm objective lens but the MRO’s footprint feature is its size that rivals almost all the popular micro red dot optic devices. With just 2.6 inches of the length and 4.1 ounces in weight, it is one of the most compact and lightweight pieces of optics you really want to be associated with.

Housing and Construction

In this Trijicon MRO review, we get to know of an optic device that comes with a forged 7075 aluminum for housing. This is an improvement as most of its competitors on the market are known to utilize less quality constructions, with the 20% less stronger extruded 6061 being a common choice. The result is, therefore, a housing that offers an increased shockproof performance thereby giving a better durability guarantee.

Adjusters and Adjustment Knob

The MRO features ½ MOA sub-flush adjustment features that have been constructed in such a way as to prevent any occurrences of accidental adjustments. And to make it even more interesting is the fact that the above is achieved yet the product needs no special tools or caps for adjustments. With a total adjustment capability of 70 MOA, This Trijicon piece of optics can be used by virtually any caliber out there.

The Adjustment Knob

Trijicon MRO Brightness

Trijicon MRO Brightness

The MRO is a very versatile and flexible optic device that favors both the right-handed as well as the left-handed persons, thanks to the fact that it comes with a fully ambidextrous illumination adjustment knob. And when compared to other common designs, illumination adjustment with this piece offers relatively more comfort as you won’t have to break the firing grip so as to awkwardly try to get to the red dots top so as to make adjustment. Illumination adjustments can be achieved when you are in your best shooting position and angle.

And for easy adjustments, the MRO presents you with a knob that travels only 180 degrees to provide quicker throw in dialing the illumination levels. This knob features a course knurling that is also credited for the easy dialing, thanks to the tactile grip it provides.

With the adjustment knob, select one of the six visible illumination settings or the two-night vision settings provided. In total, the light intensity brightness settings are eight with the “N and n” being the night compatible levels.

The eye relief is infinite whereas the battery life afforded is 5 years.

The Trijicon MRO Lens & Reticle

This is the heart of any optic device. Be it an EOTECH, a scope or a sight etc, the optic system is the core of it all. The MRO features a large objective lens that measures 25mm. This is obviously an explicit different feature that can be observed on the product which is apparently missing in other red dot sights. A large objective means a reduced “tunnel effect,” improved situational awareness and unparalleled field of view. An interesting aspect of this Trijicon MRO review is the realization that this product presents a field of view that is 44% larger than that offered by similar products.

The objective lens features multi-coated and anti-reflective properties, which are responsible for the reduced forward emissions when other red dots are compared.

Reflection and Contrast

You are guaranteed of no reflections or highlights that arise from the glass. All that you will get is a clear view of your object together with its surroundings. The optics has been well designed to the point that they produce virtually no reflections out in the sun or indoors when subjected to the artificial lighting system. Reflections are dangerous in two ways namely: they will affect the quality of the target view and secondly, the reflection can produce a sharp light which raises alarm to your targets thus making them to speed off.

Tunnel Effect

There is nothing as irritating as side obstructions as you do your core thing. In the case of sights, some come with so narrow tubes that make it appear as if your object is at the end of the tunnel. You thus end up having a tunnel view effect. As mentioned above, the objective size, which essentially necessitated for an enlarged tube has helped to reduce such an effect. Your aiming will have a very natural feel with such tubing effects having been completely eliminated.

Weatherproof

Weather is one of the most unpredictable components of this world; especially today that climate change has become a real concern. This means that today is when you need a weatherproof product more than any other time. This makes it possible for you to continue with your errands in any practical weather. Something else would cause you to stop shooting but not these sights. It features nitrogen purging that makes it Fogproof. Similarly, an O-ring sealing had been factored in the design thus giving the MRO a very formidable waterproof performance. It is waterproof up to 30 meters deep in the waters.

Power

The Trijicon MRO uses a single CR2032 lithium battery as its power source. The battery is easy and quick to install. However, it is important to take great care as you insert it. This is so as to reduce the risks of bending the multiple contact prongs that are found in the battery housing.

The most interesting feature of the sight in relation to the CR2032 lithium battery is the life it takes. Poor battery life is a common attribute of red dots. That is not the case in the Trijicon MRO review. When set to the setting 3 (medium-low brightness) and left in the "On" position, the sight will be powered for five years. All this credit is given to the very efficient sight electronics that are power-saving. Remember that in case of a home invasion, you won’t have the time to turn the sight to its right setting. It is therefore safe for you to always keep it on.

Mounting

The option of buying the MRO just on its own or acquiring it with a mount are provided by Trijicon. Available are three mount heights namely; mid 1/3 mount, the low mount and the full co-witness mount. Though you may want to buy it with the mounts, it is important to note that Trijicon only specializes and focuses on optic designs. Therefore, it is very common to get mounts that offer better performances than those bought with the MRO. The new throw-lever mount designed by LaRue Tactical may be one such mount that you would really want to complement the attachment and performance of the MRO. This is a new mounting accessory that is fast gaining its share in the aftermarket sector.

Warranty and Durability Guarantee

Even before mentioning the warranty, the fact that this product features a stronger metal construction and better construction techniques is a guarantee by itself that this is one of the most durable products out there. It is because of such confidence that Trijicon accompanies the MRO with a lifetime limited warranty. Such a warranty means that this may probably be a onetime purchase and you will never need to buy other sights again.

Benefits of Using the Sight

  • All Round Use: There is virtually no circumstance that the sight will make it impossible or difficult for you to continue with your errands. As mentioned earlier, some other aspects may be responsible but not these sights. It is weatherproof thus allowing you accurate use in all weather conditions. It also comes with six daytime settings and two night level settings thus enabling you to use it any time of your 24-hour day.
  • Better Performance: In this Trijicon MRO review, we get that this product features a 44% larger Field of View as compared to its closest competitor on the market. Fortunately, this comes at a $200 less price tag. This improves your reliability and overall performance.
  • Durability: In comparison with other such like products, this is a very durable piece of optics that comes with a 20% stronger aluminum housing when compared with its competing counterparts. The rugged housing construction makes sure that the sights are able to withstand recoil and other abuses.

Drawbacks

The CR2032 lithium battery used to power this system isn’t easily available, especially outside the USA.

Customer Reviews

MRO Color Cast

MRO Color Cast

All the honest reviews online give this product thumbs high either directly or indirectly. Direct positive reviews are as direct as you can imagine, they give the product kudos for its construction and overall performance. However, it is important to know that negative reviews also exist. But with my observation, these negatives aren’t really negatives.

For instance, there is a user concern that the manufacturer added a blue cast to the MRO picture when the target is acquired. This is a true observation which hundreds of users haven’t even noticed it’s there. In other words, you need to be very keen for you to observe this. It, therefore, has no impact on the performance of the piece of optics.

Secondly, some users complain that the manufacturer advertises the sights to have no magnification yet they really have some magnification, any glass expert will tell you that any time you put a glass between your eyes and an object, what you see will automatically be altered to some degree. The slight changes you may notice with the sight are therefore normal with any piece of glass.

Conclusion

At the beginning, you may not have really understood what the MRO is. But after going through this Trijicon MRO review, it is clear that this is one of the best optic devices that a professional law enforcement personnel and a legally armed citizen will benefit from its use. This is because it has maintained or upped the standards of all those other sights that previously were industry benchmarks. Today, the Trijicon MRO is a benchmark as far as durability, price and above all, performance of gun sights is concerned.

  1. “The CR2032 lithium battery used to power this system isn’t easily available…”

What? The CR2032 is ubiquitous, probably the most common button battery in use today. In a pinch you could even pull one out of any desktop or laptop computer.
