Ruger American Rimfire Upgrades – What Do You Recommend?

Looking to Upgrade My Ruger American Rimfire

Hey folks,

I recently picked up a Ruger American Rimfire and I’m absolutely loving it for my outdoor shooting sessions. It’s a fantastic rifle, but I’m keen on optimizing its performance even further.

I’m reaching out to hear your experiences with upgrades and modifications you’ve made or come across. Here are a few areas I’m particularly interested in:

  • Trigger Upgrades: I’ve read that upgrading the trigger can really enhance accuracy. What brands or models do you recommend? Have you noticed a significant difference?
  • Sights: I’m considering swapping out the stock sights for something a bit bigger and easier to use, especially for target practice. Any suggestions? What has worked for you?
  • Accessories: I would love to hear about any accessories that you think make shooting with the Ruger American Rimfire more enjoyable. Things like bipods, slings, or even cases. What do you use and why?

I’m hoping to gather a collection of tips and advice so I can make informed decisions on upgrades that will enhance my shooting experience. Thanks in advance for sharing your insights!

Happy shooting and looking forward to your suggestions!

I absolutely love the Timney triggers! They make a huge difference in the pull weight and overall feel.

I agree with dowen about Timney! But don’t forget about the KIDD triggers; they’re also fantastic and very adjustable.

Thanks for the tips! What about barrels? I’ve read that switching to a match barrel can help with precision. Any specific brands to look for?

Definitely consider the Green Mountain barrels! They’re known for their accuracy and improved consistency. You’ll really notice the upgrade.

Agreed! I’ve also heard good things about ER Shaw barrels. They’re known for good custom work!

What about optics? I feel like having the right scope can make or break my experience with the rifle. Suggestions?

I suggest going for a Vortex Crossfire II scope! It’s a great entry-level scope and performs amazingly well for the price.

I second that! For a more premium option, the Leupold VX-2 is excellent.

I’ve found that upgrading the stock can also improve my shooting experience. Has anyone tried a boyds stock?

Yes, the Boyd’s Tacticool stock is very popular! It enhances comfort and stability while shooting.

I have to agree! But some shooters prefer a more traditional look. It really depends on what feels best for you.

I’m just here to say, if all else fails, a good cleaning and proper maintenance seem to do wonders! Sometimes simplicity is key.

Just to throw my two cents in, don’t overlook the bolt handle. A better bolt can make cycling smoother and more fun!

True! I’ve even seen some creative customs that take it to another level. It looks awesome!

Upgrades are great, but it’s also essential to find what works for you personally. Happy shooting, everyone!

Upgrading your Ruger American Rimfire can be really rewarding! I’d suggest starting with the trigger. It’s a fairly accessible upgrade that can make a huge difference in accuracy.

I agree! A better trigger pull can really enhance your shooting experience. Just make sure to do your research on compatibility before you upgrade.

While upgrading yourself can save money, it’s a bit risky if you lack experience. I’d recommend practicing on less critical parts if you want to go the DIY route!
