Looking for Tips on My Coleman Sequoia Pop Up Camper!

I’m reaching out to fellow camping enthusiasts for some advice and feedback on my Coleman Sequoia pop-up camper! I’ve recently become the proud owner of this camper, and I’m eager to enhance my camping experience with it.

Overview of My Setup

To give you a little background, I purchased this camper to make our family camping trips more enjoyable and comfortable. It’s in decent condition, but I believe there’s a lot of potential for upgrades and improvements, and I’d love to tap into your experiences and insights.

Specific Areas I Need Help With

  1. Restoration Projects: Are there any common restoration projects that you would recommend for the Sequoia? I’d like to hear what has worked for you.
  2. Lift System Concerns: I’ve read mixed reviews regarding the lift system on these campers. Has anyone dealt with lift system issues? If so, what solutions did you find effective?
  3. Parts and Upgrades: I’m also looking into parts that may need replacement or upgrades that can enhance its functionality. Recommendations for reliable sources for parts would be greatly appreciated!
  4. General Maintenance Tips: What are your go-to maintenance practices for keeping a pop-up camper in top shape?

I’ve taken my Coleman Sequoia on week-long trips, and it’s surprisingly comfortable! The sleeping arrangements are decent, though I recommend bringing your extra pads for a better night’s sleep.

That’s good to hear! How about the space usage? Is it okay for families or small groups?

I’ve camped with two kids, and it worked out fine space-wise. You might feel a bit cramped if everyone is in there at once, but the layout is efficient for essential movement.

That sounds promising! How does it handle in different weather conditions? I worry about staying dry.

In my experience, the Coleman Sequoia holds up well against rain. I’ve had nights where it poured, but we stayed dry and cozy inside. Just make sure the seals are in good shape!

I love how easy it is to set up. That gives you more time to relax and enjoy. Is there enough storage for food and other essentials during extended trips?

There’s some under-seat storage, but I would recommend using bins. It helps maximize space and keeps things organized. Extended trips can get cluttered fast!

Good tip! Do you find the cooking setup adequate? That’s a big deal for me when camping.

The cooking setup is decent. I usually go for a portable grill, and the space works well! Just watch the heat if you’re cooking inside—it’s a compact area.

[quote=“seanadams, post:9, topic:2015”]the space works well![quote]Sounds like a fun experience! What about the bathroom situation? I know some setups can be tricky.

No bathroom inside, which is a bummer for late-night needs! You’ll need to bring a portable toilet or use the campground facilities. Just plan ahead for that!

The Coleman Sequoia is pretty light for a pop-up camper, weighing around 1,800 pounds. Its dimensions make it easy to tow with a standard vehicle, which is a huge plus for transport!

That’s great to hear! How easy is it to set up once you get to the campsite? I want something that doesn’t take forever to pitch.

Setting it up is surprisingly simple! It typically takes about 10-15 minutes. Just make sure to practice a few times at home before hitting the road, so you’re not fumbling around!

That sounds doable! Does anyone have tips for handling the camper in strong winds? Seems like that could be a challenge.

Wind can be tricky! Just make sure to stake it down really well and consider using additional weights. I’ve had some rough mornings trying to hold it together during storms!

Haha, that must have been an adventure! Anyone have advice on the towing experience? Is it smooth on the road?

Absolutely! It tows like a dream. I’ve taken it on multiple trips and it behaves better than some trailers I’ve used. Just be mindful of the weight when loading up.

Weight management is key! I always pack strategically to avoid unnecessary sway. It keeps both towing and setup easier.
