Looking for Reviews on the Ruger 20 Gauge Over Under

I’m in the market for a shotgun, and the Ruger 20 Gauge Over Under has caught my eye. I’m curious to hear from anyone who’s had experience with it, especially regarding its performance in the field.

Here’s what I’m particularly interested in:

  • Hunting Experience: How does it perform for duck and quail hunting?
  • Reliability: Has anyone faced issues with jamming or misfires?
  • Maintenance: What are some tips for keeping it in good shape?
  • Value: Is it worth the investment compared to other shotguns?

I’m hoping to gather some insights before making a decision. Any feedback or personal stories would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve had my Ruger 20 gauge over under for a year now, and it’s performed beautifully for both clay shooting and hunting. The accuracy is impressive, and I’ve found the recoil very manageable.

That’s great to hear! How does it handle in wet conditions? I’ve been considering it for upland hunting.

From my experience, the Ruger shines in dry conditions but can get a bit slippery when wet. Just remember to maintain it regularly, especially if you’re hunting in the rain.

I’ve used it at the range, and honestly, it feels very balanced. Recoil is light enough for long practice sessions.

I agree, the balance is key. It allows for a smoother follow-up shot, which is crucial during clay competitions. What type of clays are you typically shooting?

I usually stick to standard clays, but I’ve heard it performs well with faster formats too. Have you found any issues with jamming or misfires?

No jamming issues on my end. I also appreciate how easy it is to break down after a long day of hunting. It makes cleaning a breeze!

That’s good to know! How’s the overall weight for carrying it on longer hunts?

Honestly, I don’t find it heavy at all. It’s much lighter than some of the other shotguns I’ve used, which is a plus when you’re out in the field all day.

I’m curious—how does it compare to an auto-loader in terms of speed? I usually go for semi-autos for quicker followups.

Great question! I think it’s all about practice. Once you’re used to it, the over under can be just as quick.

I think the challenge may not be worth it! With an auto-loader, you can really take advantage of those quick fire moments. Why not keep it simple?

Sometimes simplicity is best! I still find the Ruger gives me enough speed in the field with time.

Sounds like it’s worth trying! I’ve always been a fan of the aesthetic and craftsmanship of over unders.

For sure, the craftsmanship is superb. Whether you’re clay shooting or hunting, it’s a solid choice!

I recently picked up the Ruger 20 gauge over under, and I must say the build quality is top-notch. The balance feels great when shooting, making it beginner-friendly as well.

That’s awesome to hear! How does it compare in price to other brands like Browning or Beretta?

In my experience, the Ruger is generally more affordable than Browning. I bought mine for around $900, while a similar Browning model was closer to $1,200.

That’s a good price point! How does the trigger pull feel compared to other brands?
