I’ve been using the Marlin Dark 1895 .45-70 for a couple of seasons now and it’s fantastic for hunting! The barrel length is a solid 18.5 inches which balances well, and the weight is just right for field work.
I took mine to the range last week! It’s surprisingly accurate for a lever-action, and the trigger feels nice and crisp at 3-4 lbs. Definitely a fun time!
I’ve been using the Hornady LeverEvolution rounds with my 1895, and they work great for deer hunting. The ballistic tip really helps with accuracy and expansion!
