Anyone tried the Guide Gear sleeping bag? Looking for reviews!

Seeking Feedback on Guide Gear Sleeping Bags

I am considering purchasing a Guide Gear sleeping bag for my upcoming camping trip, but I want to gather some insights before making the investment.

Overview

I’ve done some preliminary research, and I see they offer various models with different temperature ratings and features. However, I’m particularly interested in:

  • Comfort: How do they feel during both warm and cooler nights?
  • Durability: Do they hold up well after multiple uses, especially in rugged outdoor conditions?
  • Size and Weight: For backpacking trips, do they pack down small enough without sacrificing quality?
  • Temperature Ratings: Are the ratings accurate? How do they perform in real-world conditions?

My Plans

I plan on doing some hiking and camping in cooler weather, and I want a bag that keeps me warm but isn’t overly bulky. If anyone has had experience with specific models like the Guide Gear Ultralight or others, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

If you’ve used a Guide Gear sleeping bag, could you please share your experience? Any tips on the best models or features to look for would be appreciated. Looking forward to hearing your recommendations!

Thanks in advance for the help!

I’ve used the Guide Gear sleeping bag in summer and it kept me surprisingly cool. The breathability is excellent, which was a pleasant surprise!

That’s good to hear! I’m planning a summer trip and was worried I’d sweat too much in a sleeping bag. Glad to know it’s breathable!

I took mine out last winter in some really cold temps, and it performed great! The insulation is solid, kept me warm when it was freezing outside.

[@barnettbarry] That’s encouraging! How did it handle moisture? I worry about condensation in winter camps.

I also used it in a damp environment. It resisted moisture surprisingly well! Just make sure to keep it in a dry bag if it’s really wet outside.

Exactly! I’ve used it in light rain, and it held up. But don’t test it in a downpour.

I found the sleeping bag to be a bit heavy for summer hikes. It’s versatile, but weight can be cumbersome.

That’s true, but for winter camping, I think the weight is worth it for the warmth!

I disagree about the weight! Sure, it’s heavier than some ultra-lights, but I’d trade that for insulation any day. It’s not like we’re running a marathon!

Has anyone tried layering it with another sleeping bag or blanket? I feel like that could help in extreme winter conditions.

I’ve never tried it, but I think it could work well for extra warmth! Might be worth experimenting.

I hope this sleeping bag holds up over time! Love the price point, but I’m curious about durability.

Same here! I’ll definitely keep an eye on it. A few trips in, it’s still looking fine.

I’ve been camping for years, and I can say this bag is great for the price. Just took it through some light thunderstorms, and it held up well!

That sounds promising, [@monica47]! I always enjoy a good budget find that performs!

If you have any concerns before buying, don’t hesitate! Just remember to check your zipper—it can be a bit finicky!

I’ve used the Guide Gear sleeping bag for a couple of camping trips now. The comfort level is solid, especially with the plush lining. It kept me warm without feeling claustrophobic.

That’s great to hear! How does the sizing feel? I’m a bit concerned about whether it will be too snug for someone my height.

I’m 6’2" and found it to be spacious enough. The foot box allows for some stretch too, which was a nice surprise! Overall, I think it accommodates taller individuals well.
