Anyone tried the Buck 112 Slim Select? Looking for reviews!

I recently came across the Buck 112 Slim Select while researching folding knives for outdoor activities. I’ve been looking for a reliable knife for camping and hiking, and I noticed that the 112 Slim Select has some features that set it apart from the classic Buck 112 Ranger.

Features That Caught My Eye

  • Design Improvements: The Slim Select seems to be a more modern take on the classic design, which is appealing for someone like me who values both functionality and aesthetics.
  • Blade Material: I read that it uses high-quality stainless steel, which is essential for outdoor use, especially in wet conditions.
  • Weight: At just under 2 ounces, it’s light enough for EDC without being too flimsy.
  • Ergonomics: The handle design looks promising for a secure grip.

Usability in Outdoor Settings

I’m particularly interested in hearing from those who’ve used it for common outdoor tasks. Has anyone found it effective for:

  • Preparing meals while camping?
  • Setting up gear or making quick repairs?
  • General EDC tasks?

Questions to Consider

  • How does it hold up in tough conditions? Any chips or dulling over time?
  • Is it comfortable enough to be used for extended periods?
  • Would you recommend it as an upgrade from the classic Ranger?

I’m hoping to gather more experiences from users here before making a decision. Your insights would really help in determining if the Buck 112 Slim Select is worth the investment for someone who enjoys the great outdoors. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been using the Buck 112 Slim Select for a couple of months now. It’s become my go-to everyday carry tool. The grip is comfortable, and the blade is easy to sharpen. Highly recommend it!

That’s great to hear! I’ve been looking for something reliable. How does it perform with tougher tasks?

I agree with michael41. I used the Buck 112 Slim Select for some outdoor work, and it held up surprisingly well against tougher materials. A solid knife overall!

What I love most about the Buck 112 is the classic design. I carry mine every day, whether I’m camping or just running errands. It’s a real conversation starter too!

How is the locking mechanism? Does it feel secure during use?

The lock is solid! No wobble at all, which gives me confidence when using it for heavy tasks. I usually use it for food prep and it excels at that too.

I’ve had mixed feelings about mine. While the blade is sharp, I often find it a bit slippery when wet. Any tips on preventing that?

I had the same issue! I started using some textured grip tape on the handle, and it made a huge difference for me. You might want to give that a shot!

That’s a clever tip, jonathanbarnes! Definitely worth a try. I’ve been using mine mostly for light tasks and love how it feels in hand.

While I love the knife, I wish it came in different colors! Just a personal preference to make it a bit more fun to carry.

A rainbow Buck 112 would certainly stand out in a crowd! But for functionality, it’s hard to complain.

I’ve used it while hiking, and I was impressed! It’s lightweight and doesn’t weigh me down at all, plus it handles everything from cutting rope to preparing snacks.

That’s awesome, natasha97! I might take it on my next hiking trip. Any feedback on how it handles bending or flexing under pressure?

It’s quite sturdy and doesn’t flex much. I’ve put it through various task tests. It feels great, trust me. You won’t be disappointed!

I’ve had the Buck 112 Slim Select for a few months now, and I love its balance and grip. It’s a great EDC option! Compared to other knives in its price range, it holds up well in quality.

That sounds promising! How would you say it compares in terms of blade sharpness and ease of opening to something like the Spyderco Delica?

I’ve owned both the Buck 112 Slim Select and the Delica. The Buck is easier to sharpen, but the Delica has a slightly smoother opening mechanism. Both are great knives in their own right!

Interesting! What about the pricing aspect? Is the Buck 112 better value for money?

Absolutely! The Buck 112 is generally more affordable than the Delica, especially with similar features. If you’re looking for value, the Buck wins hands down.
