Anyone tried Norma Bondstrike 300 WSM for elk hunting?

I’m looking for some advice or personal experiences regarding the Norma Bondstrike 300 WSM ammunition. Specifically, I’m interested in how well it performs for elk hunting.

A few points I’m curious about:

  • Accuracy: How consistent have your shots been?
  • Ballistic Performance: Any feedback on how the bullets perform at range?

  • Availability: Any recommendations on where to source them?

I’m aiming to enhance my hunting performance this season, and any insights on using this ammo would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I’ve shot it a few times. The Bondstrike has an impressive BC, making it great for long-range shots. The trajectory seems to hold well, so you should be good for elk hunting!

Interesting! What specific distances have you tested it at? I’m eager to know about its performance at various ranges.

I’ve used it up to 600 yards. The drop is manageable, which is crucial for elk hunting where they can be far away. The accuracy was on point!

That’s impressive, Robert! I’ve heard harch critiques about the recoil though. Is it really that bad with the 300 WSM?

The recoil is definitely noticeable but manageable. Just make sure to practice a bit before heading out. It’s worth it for the accuracy!

Good tip! Do you use any specific weigh adjustments on your rifle to help with that?

Yes! A muzzle brake has really helped me absorb some of the recoil, making it much more manageable during long sessions.

I’m considering using a muzzle brake myself. Does it affect your shot placement at all?

Not for me! I actually found it helped with stability. The clamp-on type tends to stay on well, but you might want to test it before the actual hunt.

Thanks for the heads up! I appreciate the advice on testing first.

I’m hopeful the Bondstrike will perform as many have said. Can’t wait to give it a shot! What’s your favorite distance for elk hunting?

I’d say around 300 to 400 yards is my sweet spot, but with a round like the Bondstrike, you might get away with even further shots if you’re comfortable.

I’ve had great success with the Norma Bondstrike 300 WSM for elk hunting! The key is getting your powder choice right. I’ve been using H4831SC with excellent results.

What bullet weight are you using? I’ve heard mixed reviews on different weights for this caliber.

Bullet seating depth can really affect your accuracy. I typically seat my bullets around 0.015" off the lands, but it can vary based on your rifle’s chamber.

Totally agree! What has been your experience with magazine length when seating bullets? I’ve had some feed issues.

Magazine length is crucial! Make sure you’re not exceeding it with your seating depth. I had a rough hunt last year due to jamming issues, learned the hard way!

Reloading the Bondstrike can be tricky. I found that using a chronograph really helps dial in the powder charge for consistency. Anyone else have issues with low velocity?
