For me, evenings seem to be more successful. The deer seem to be more active and curious.
I think the doe bleat call is underrated! It can be really effective if used right. Has anyone ever tried mixing it with a fawn bleat?
Iāve tried that! Itās a great tactic for attracting both does and bucks, especially during the rut.
Thatās a solid point, but does anyone else find doe bleats can either attract too many unwanted deer sometimes? Itās a mixed bag.
Haha, totally! Sometimes you end up with a whole party of deer instead of the one big buck youāre after. It can be a hilarious mess!
Iāve tried a few doe bleat calls, and my favorite is the Primos Perfect Peach. The sound quality is fantastic, and it has held up well in the field. Highly recommend it!
Thatās great to hear, James! Iāve been using the Quaker Boy Doe Bleat, and itās super easy to use. The sound is pretty realistic too!
Iāve had my eye on the Flextone Doe Bleat. Anyone have thoughts on its durability? Iāve read mixed reviews.
The Flextone has been pretty durable for me, Jacob. But I did have a friend who lost the diaphragm after a few hunts.
Iāve used the Tinkās Bleat call for years. Itās super portable and has a great sound. Plus, it fits in my pocket!
Thatās a plus! I prefer something lightweight too, sometimes I forget I even have it on me during a long trek.
Does anyone have advice on how to replicate the sound of a distressed doe? I feel like thatās what gets the bucks really interested.
Great question, Ygarcia! From my experience, you can try adjusting the pitch on your call by blowing softer or harder. It mimics the distress call more effectively.
Iāve used the Primos call too, but honestly, Iām not a huge fan. I found it a bit hard to get the right tone consistently, unlike others seem to suggest.
I get your point, Frank. I think it comes down to practice, but I totally understand why you might feel that way.
I canāt believe how much variation there is among calls. Itās like trying to pick a favorite flavor of ice cream! Whatās next, deer on a diet? LOL!
Thatās so true! Reflecting on all the feedback, I think itās worth trying a few before settling on one. Every hunter has their own unique preferences!
