I’ve shot the 107gr, but found the 105gr Hybrid more forgiving on windy days. Just my two cents based on my experiences.
I found the 105 grain Berger VLDs to be really effective at 300 yards. Just make sure your seating depth is right; it can make a huge difference in accuracy!
Absolutely! I usually start with the factory recommendation, then fine-tune based on group size. It’s all about finding that sweet spot!
Has anyone else dealt with lead fouling when shooting the 6mm? I thought it was just me until I cleaner up and noticed the accuracy drop noticeably.
Lead fouling can definitely mess with consistency. I run a copper solvent regularly to keep it in check.
I agree with joshuafoley about the 105 grain VLDs. Just keep in mind how environmental factors like wind can affect your groups at 300 yards.
Exactly! Sometimes a little wind can push those bullets off target if you’re not paying attention. I like to check wind conditions beforehand.
What about bullet drop at that range? I tend to aim a bit higher, but I’d love to know if there’s a standard way to account for it.
Great question, cadams! Generally, a good ballistic calculator can help you with that, plus knowing your velocity. The 6mm is pretty forgiving, but every bit helps!
Just as a heads-up, when I switched to Berger’s 95 grain offerings, I was surprised at how much they kicked! Anyone else felt the same?
Haha, I felt like I was being kicked by a mule when I tried those! But they were consistent—worth the effort!
