What’s the Best Barrel Length for .350 Legend When Hunting?

That’s a great question! I feel like if you’re using it for deer hunting, a little velocity drop isn’t a dealbreaker for most people.

I remember using a 16" barrel and feeling like it was wayyy too short for accuracy past 100 yards. Maybe it’s just me, though.

I completely understand. Shorter barrels can definitely feel less stable. What do you think about compensators for shorter barrels?

I’m still on the fence! Some folks swear by short barrels for maneuverability in brush. I can see both sides of the argument.

Yeah, it’s really a personal choice based on your hunting style. Do you prioritize speed or accuracy?

I think barrel length also affects recoil management. A longer barrel can help mitigate that, which can lead to better follow-up shots.

Good point! Plus, a heavier barrel might stabilize shots better too. Any thoughts on that?

I’m considering the .350 Legend for all kinds of game, but I can’t help but chuckle at how often this topic gets debated. Barrel length is a personal saga for everyone!

Haha, true! Everybody wants to one-up each other on what’s the best. It’s all about what works for you at the end of the day.

I’ve found that a 16-inch barrel strikes a nice balance for hunting with the .350 Legend. It provides enough velocity while being compact enough for maneuvering through the woods. Perfect for deer hunting!

I agree! A 16-inch barrel is great, but if you’re targeting larger game like bear, you might want a longer barrel for increased accuracy and range. What do others think?

While I get the 16-inch preference, I find that the 20-inch barrel can be beneficial for longer shots, especially in open areas. It really helps with that extra range for those distant targets.

Absolutely! It really depends on the hunting environment. In dense woods, a shorter barrel might serve you better. Anyone here use a 24-inch barrel?

I’ve solely used a 24-inch barrel for .350 Legend. It seems overkill for many situations, but it really brings out accuracy at longer distances. What’s the average effective range for you all?

Great question! I’d say the sweet spot is around 200 yards for most game. But with the right setup, I’ve shot successfully at 250 yards with my 16-inch barrel too!

I think barrel length is just one part of the equation. Everyone’s style and what feels comfortable varies too! Do you prioritize ease of carry or accuracy more?

That’s a good point! For me, it’s about balance. I don’t mind a bit of extra weight if it means better accuracy while hunting.

When I think about it, my preference has changed as I’ve gained experience. Initially, I leaned toward shorter barrels, but longer ones have really upped my game. What’s your journey with barrel lengths been?

Same here! I’ve moved to a longer barrel as I’ve tackled different terrains and species. It’s interesting how our needs evolve!

For small game, I still think shorter barrels like 16 inches work just fine. They’re light and easy to carry around. It’s about finding what fits best for you.
