Thoughts on Black Hills 77 TMK for Target Shooting?

Totally agree with fparks! I’ve got a 1:8 twist and my loads perform like a charm. Also, don’t forget about cleanliness in your reloading process for best performance.

What’s the max COAL you guys have tried with these bullets? I’ve heard 2.260 is on the extreme end.

I had a buddy try these with 2.280 COAL and had no issues. He was shooting out of a custom build. I’d really focus on your specific setup.

My experience has differed, though. At 2.260 COAL, I’ve had fliers pop up. Maybe my rifle has some quirks. Has anyone encountered similar?

I’m not a pro, but maybe your chamber’s tight or your bullet seating needs refining. Keep trying different tweaks!

For a fun twist, I once loaded some with a touch of Trail Boss for lighter practice loads. It was surprisingly fun, but not super accurate!

Hey, ycruz, that could make for a lively day at the range! Just don’t expect to win any precision matches with those, haha!

Gotta love experimenting! Just remember, safety first with that powder, folks!

I’m really curious about the Black Hills 77 TMK for target shooting. Has anyone compared it to Hornady’s ELD-Match? I’m hoping to find something accurate and reliable.

The Black Hills 77 TMK is known for its precision. I find it consistently groups tight, especially compared to the 75gr Hornady. However, it can be a bit pricier.

I’ve shot the TMK and the Hornady. TMK has less wind drift with higher BC. It also performs well up to 600 yards. Pricing is often similar, but availability can be tricky.

I appreciate the insights! Pricing can sometimes sway my decision. Can anyone share where you usually find the best prices?

If you’re in the market, try checking online retailers like Brownells or AmmoSeek. Black Hills is often out of stock but worth the wait if you’re serious about accuracy.

That’s great to know! But I’ve heard some say that the TMK is just overhyped. I’m curious if others have had a different experience.

While it’s true the TMK is top-tier, never underestimate the value of a solid budget option like PMC X-Tac—less expensive with decent performance for target practice.

That’s a valid point, but the consistency of the TMK is hard to beat. If you want to fine-tune for competitions, it’s worth it, even if slightly more expensive.

Does anyone know how the TMK performs in colder weather? I’ve heard it can behave differently in varying conditions.

In colder weather, I’ve noticed the TMK still retains good accuracy, but it might be less reliable than some hunting rounds. Testing is key!

I’ve only shot it during the summer, but I’d agree—environmental conditions can impact performance.

Just ordered a box of TMKs! Fingers crossed they live up to the hype! If not, I guess I’ll be the next to join the argument about it.
