Overall, I think Federal Champion has a good balance of price and performance. I typically recommend it to beginner shooters for their first guns. It’s affordable and readily available.

That’s exactly my thoughts! It’s the go-to for new shooters, and I’ve never had problems with it. Can’t say the same for Winchester .22, though!
My only issue with Federal Champion is that sometimes it can be harder to find in stock compared to other brands. Any tips on locating it?
I feel your pain, danielsanders! Online usually has it, but you might find local stores running out. It’s hit or miss. I think it’s still worth the hunt for how well it shoots!
I’ve recently switched to Remington, and while it’s cheaper, it’s just not as reliable as the Federal stuff. The performance on target can be quite off sometimes.
Yes, I had similar issues with Remington. Federal Champion might be slightly higher in cost, but it’s worth spending a little more for reliable rounds.
On the humorous side, if I had a penny for every failed Remington round… I wouldn’t have to buy ammo!

I’ve shot Federal Champion in competition and I think it performs decently but it’s not the most consistent. What type of match were you planning for?

For small game hunting, Federal Champion works fine for squirrels! Just be sure to check the headspace with your rifle. No major issues on my end.

It’s surprisingly quiet! I’ve used it extensively, no feeding problems in my semi-auto either, which is a plus.
I’ve had a couple of misfires with Federal Champion, but they were rare. My experience has been mostly positive otherwise.
Interesting! I wonder if certain batches are more prone to that, or is it just user error?
In my opinion, Federal Champion is good for beginner plinkers, but I wouldn’t trust it for serious competition.
