Looking for Barnes .243 Load Data - Help Needed!

Has anyone tried seating the bullets right off the lands? I’ve had mixed results, but when it worked, wow! Tighter groups for sure.

I’ve done that! It increases accuracy but also can lead to potential pressure spikes. Be cautious.

What’s the general consensus on seating depth for hunting vs target shooting? Should it differ significantly?

I think it does! For hunting, I prioritize reliability and terminal performance, while for targets, it’s all about that accuracy. What do others think?

Talking about accuracy, anyone tested various seating depths on the same load? I’d love to see a graph of results!

I have! It’s fascinating to see how even 0.005" can change things. I kept a record of all my trials; it’s quite an eye-opener!

I keep hearing about this ideal 2.5" jump to the lands. Does it really make that much difference? I’m skeptical!

Oh, definitely! But it varies from rifle to rifle. It’s worth trying out, even if you are skeptical!

After all this talk, I might just get out to the range this weekend. Any final tips before I start adjusting seating depth?

Definitely take notes on each round. You never know what combination will surprise you! Happy shooting!

Can’t wait to see how it goes! Just remember to have fun while experimenting. After all, that’s where the real learning happens!

I’m also looking for Barnes .243 load data! Specifically, I want to compare the TTSX vs. GMX. Has anyone got velocity data?

I’ve had great success with the TTSX at about 3000 fps. It’s been deadly on deer!

I’ve been using the GMX with excellent results too. It performs well in terms of expansion and penetration!

What kind of groups are you getting at 100 yards with that load?

I typically see 1 MOA with the TTSX, but it can be a bit finicky depending on the powder. What powder have you been using?

I’m using IMR 4350 for my loads, works quite well! What expansion have you noticed on game?

The expansion is impressive with the TTSX! It creates a good wound channel, but the GMX seems to do just as well in my experience.

Has anyone chronographed the GMX? I’m curious about the velocity.

I’ve clocked the GMX using Varget at about 2950 fps. It performs consistently and groups well too.
