Is WD-40 Good for Gun Maintenance?

I’ve been using frog lube for a while now. It’s a bit unconventional, but it offers a nice non-toxic option. Anyone else use it?

I’ve tried frog lube! It has a minty scent, which is funny, but it works surprisingly well. Just need to apply it correctly.

I’ve always wondered: are there specific risks when using WD-40 on firearms? Like does it affect the firing mechanism?

From what I know, there are risks, especially with high-precision firearms. WD-40 can gum up, which might interfere with mechanisms.

That’s a good point! I’d rather stick to proven products. I’ve seen friends regret using the wrong stuff on their guns.

Exactly! It’s always better to err on the side of caution with firearms. Safety should come first.

So in essence, we should avoid WD-40 for guns? I’ve always thought it was just a catch-all solution.

Yes! There are much better options specifically made for gun care. Stick to them for best performance.

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I actually used WD-40 before learning about its downsides. Guess that explains my misfires!

A classic rookie mistake, but at least you learned! We all have to start somewhere, right?
