CLP vs Gun Oil: What's Your Go-To for Firearm Care?

I’ve had that happen with CLP, especially if I use it in dirt and sand. Gun oil was better for me in those scenarios. Just a thought!

Any tips for cleaning firearms in extreme weather? I mostly use CLP, but it can get tricky when it’s raining or snowing.

I’d suggest using a thicker gun oil for those conditions. It holds up a bit better, especially during the cold snap! Anyone else have different strategies?

I think both have their places. CLP is great for easy, quick jobs. I might not use it for my competition shooting though. Gun oil just feels more reliable in those cases.

Exactly! I use CLP for my day-to-day cleaning but switch to gun oil for serious shooting days. Pretty efficient system if you ask me!

I’ve been known to forget my cleaning supplies in the truck for days… Oops. Best thing I did was switch to gun oil for these situations - it handles the neglect better than CLP!

Haha, I can relate! I’ve accidentally left CLP out too. It’s good to know gun oil is more forgiving in those cases.

After reading all this, I feel like I need to experiment with both products. It’s interesting to see how everyone has had different issues and solutions!
