Has anyone used a self-inflating pad like the REI Camp Bed? It’s heavier, but super comfy! Sometimes I wonder if comfort outweighs the extra weight.
It does, especially if you have a long hike! But my back cries for comfort, too. It’s such a tough balance!
A mattress with extra foam could be great for side sleepers, but you’ll need to try it out before your trip. Weight and packability can be different when you actually hit the trail!
Sometimes I bring a little pillow for my knees! I mean, who doesn’t love a mid-hike comfort hack? However, I’m still hunting for a good sleeping pad that supports my side sleeping!
You’re not alone! I constantly rethink my gear. Have you considered an air pad with side rails? They can help keep you centered.
Do air pads lose air after a few nights? I worry if they’re worth the investment. I’d rather not risk waking up on the ground!
They can! I’ve had that issue, so I always bring a repair kit just in case. A joyful hike can quickly turn sour if you wake up in discomfort!
