Anyone tried the Feathered Friends sleeping bags for camping?

Great advice, everyone! Just make sure to never store it compressed! It’s like hugging a stuffed toy; they need their space to breathe.

Haha! That’s a fun way to put it! Also, I always air mine out after a trip to keep it fresh.

I tend to be a little nervous about washing mine. Is there a specific method anyone finds safest for keeping the feathers in shape?

Hand washing in cold water with a gentle detergent works well! It might take longer, but it’s less harsh.

Does anyone else feel like camping gear maintenance is like a full-time job? That said, I swear by using a dedicated sleeping bag liner to keep mine cleaner longer!

That’s a smart idea! It’s definitely easier to wash a liner than the bag itself.

Anyone have tips for storing sleeping bags in humid climates? I’m worried about ongoing moisture.

Keep them in a cool, dry place if possible, maybe add some silica gel packs to absorb moisture!

I have always thought it’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to care. Plus, my bag is like my trusty sidekick now!

Haha, I feel that! Every camping trip, mine is always by my side. Almost like a pet!

Don’t forget to check for any tears after every trip! A tiny hole can lead to bigger issues later on. Let’s keep these bags safe!

I’ve used Feathered Friends sleeping bags for a couple of seasons now. They’re extremely lightweight and warm, especially in chilly conditions. In my opinion, they outperform many popular brands like Marmot and North Face in insulation.

I agree! My Marmot bag is good, but Feathered Friends really seems to excel in weight-to-warmth ratio. Have you found the price difference to be worth it?

Feathered Friends bags are pricey but worth it for serious backpackers. I’ve noticed significant durability and warmth on cold nights. Just keep an eye on their temperature ratings to ensure you pick the right one for your needs.

In terms of price, I’ve seen some amazing deals on REI’s website for other brands. However, you get what you pay for, right?

I have a Feathered Friends bag as well, and I must say the packability is fantastic! Compared to my old Sierra Designs bag, this one is far easier to stuff in a backpack for multi-day hikes.

Exactly! Packable is the name of the game for long trips. But how do they perform in wet conditions? I’m curious about that!

I haven’t tested mine in heavy rain, but it did well with condensation. I’ve had some moisture issues with lower-end brands so I think Feathered Friends might be better in that regard overall.

That’s reassuring! For me, my North Face bag has had its share of moisture trouble, so I might consider switching to Feathered Friends after reading all this!

Just remember, the insulation material matters too. Feathered Friends uses high-quality down, while some other brands use synthetic materials which may not compress as well as down, but are cheaper.
