Anyone have tips for hunting elk in Unit 52, New Mexico?

Yeah, there are a lot of hunters in Unit 52, especially during the peak season. I try to get as far from the access points as possible. Early morning and late afternoon are usually quieter times too.

Just remember to stay safe and rational. Nothing like the sound of a bull bugling nearby, but make sure you don’t get too caught up in the moment!

It’s all about timing! I usually camp outside the main areas for a chance to catch elk coming through. And bring some snacks—keeps the energy up!

Snacks are critical! On that note, what about drinks? Should I pack electrolyte mixes too? Speaking from experience, dehydration is no joke!

Good thinking, @jenniferlang! Staying hydrated is essential, especially at altitude. Electrolyte mixes can definitely help with recovery after a long hike. Also, don’t forget a good hydration bladder!
