Anyone have tips for grabbing Idaho leftover tags 2023?

I think we just have to adapt, Brandi! It’s all part of the hunt. Besides, a little competition never hurt anyone! Just got to keep your spirits up and enjoy the experience!

I’m excited about the leftover tags this year! My advice is to check the Idaho Fish and Game website frequently as they update their leftover inventory regularly. Last year, I managed to snag a tag by refreshing the page often on the release day.

That’s a great tip, gibsontammy! I also recommend setting reminders for when the tags are released. My buddy got lucky last season because he had everything prepped and ready to go right at release time.

I’ve found that it’s helpful to have multiple options in mind. Last year, I aimed for deer but ended up with an elk tag instead because that was what was available. The experience turned out better than expected!

Great point, reedlinda! Flexibility is key. I’ve also encountered challenges like hiking trails being crowded, so perhaps scouting less popular areas could be beneficial.

Absolutely, onealfrank! When I went last year, I discovered that some of the lesser-known hunting zones yielded great results. Plus, it was much quieter! I felt like I was in nature instead of in a hunting competition.

Does anyone know what the best time to apply for these tags is? I’m new to Idaho hunting and want to make the most out of my experience without missing out!

Usually, they release leftover tags after the main draws in August. Just make sure to be on top of the schedule! And don’t forget, the earlier you log in, the better your chances.

I think it’s important not to take the process too seriously. I mean, last year I accidentally applied for an antelope tag instead of deer. Let’s just say it was a fun mix-up! It’s all about enjoying the adventure!

Haha, love the spirit, robert69! Definitely attune yourself to the humor in hunting. It makes the process less stressful for newcomers like me. Thanks for sharing!
