Anyone else dealing with heel slippage in their hiking boots?

When I struggled with heel slippage, a friend suggested double lacing. It made a noticeable difference in the fit. Give it a shot!

That’s interesting! What if I already have thick socks? Will sizing up be too much?

Totally get it! I had heel slippage with my last hike. I switched to a boot with a narrower heel which helped a ton!

Does that mean specific brands fit differently? Which brands worked for you?

I’m curious about the heel grips. Are they removable or do they tend to stick permanently?

Yeah, heel grips are usually removable. They can be washed too, which is a bonus!

A little humor, but have you ever tried duct tape? Just kidding, but seriously – making small adjustments can really improve the fit…

Haha! I love that idea, very MacGyver! But what adjustments actually work?

I’ve heard adding extra padding under the tongue can also help with slippage. It’s worth a try if heel grips don’t work!

I’ve definitely struggled with heel slippage in various boots! My Salomon X Ultra 3s seem to work well for me, but I’ve had issues with other brands. What boots are others using?

I’ve had a lot of success with my Merrell Moab 2s. They fit snugly and have great grip, which really minimizes slippage for me!

Heel slippage can be such a pain! I had a pair of Columbia boots that felt great initially but gave me blisters from slippage on long hikes. Anyone else had similar experiences?

For sure! My experience with Asolo boots was a letdown because of heel slippage. I switched to Lowa and found a much better fit.

I think the fit is key! I always make sure to try boots on with the socks I plan to wear on hikes. Has anyone tried using orthotics to help with heel slippage?

I haven’t, but I read that some hikers swear by them! I rely on a good pair of thick hiking socks to compensate.

I have a pair of hiking shoes by Hoka One One, and they’ve been fantastic! There’s minimal heel slippage, even on rugged terrains. Maybe it’s just about finding the right brand for your foot shape.

Absolutely! I tried on a few brands before settling on my Keen Targhee boots, which fit like a dream and keep my heels locked in.

Does anyone think certain lace-up techniques might help with slippage? I’ve heard of some tricks, but I’m skeptical about their effectiveness.

I tried a heel lock lacing method, and it really worked for me! It was a game-changer for hikes.

I also had a bad experience with heel slippage in a cheap brand, like Alpine Design. It’s just not worth it! Spending more upfront can save you a lot of pain later.
