The .30 WCF can be pretty versatile with the right rifle. Just make sure to choose a model that fits you well. I’ve had issues with recoil on some heavier rifles.

Honestly, I’ve had great luck with a Savage Model 99 in .30-30. It’s a unique rifle and offers a smooth action. Has anyone else gone the non-conventional route?

I prefer using soft-point bullets for deer hunting. They expand well on impact and provide a quick kill, regardless of whether you’re using .30 WCF or .30-30.
