Has anyone had luck with bead rigs at Chesil Beach? I’ve heard they’re great for catching bass this time of year.

Absolutely! Bead rigs work wonders, especially with a mackerel strip for bait. I caught a few bass last week using that setup.

I’m curious about the best time of day to fish at Chesil. Is it more productive in the morning or evening?

I’ve always had better luck in the evening, especially when the tide is coming in. What do you all think?

You can catch plenty of whiting this time of year. I recommend using size 1 hooks with lugworm bait, works like a charm!

Great tip! I’m planning to head out this weekend. Do you think it’s a good time for cod too?

Cod fishing can be a bit tricky right now, as they tend to be deeper. Try using heavy weights if you’re targeting them.

Thanks for the insight! I’d like to try catching some larger species soon.

Does anyone have recommendations for tackle brands? I want to ensure I’m getting the right gear for Chesil.

I’ve always had good experiences with Shimano and Penn reels. They’re pretty durable for sea fishing.

Good to know! I’ve been using cheaper brands and wonder why my gear keeps failing.

For rigging techniques, always try a basic running ledger for bigger fish. It’s simple yet effective!

That’s exactly what I’ve used! Caught some lovely flounder last month with that setup.

Could someone clarify what lures work best in the spring? I’m a bit lost with all the choices.

In spring, soft plastics like shads can be your best friend. They mimic prey so well! I love using them myself.

I’ll give those a shot! I always seem to miss the bites when using hard lures.

I’ve been fishing at Chesil Beach quite a bit this month! The mackerel are really biting, especially in the early mornings. I’ve caught some nice ones around 30-40 cm. It’s a great time to visit!

I totally agree! I was there last weekend and managed to catch a couple of decent sized mackerel too. How about the bass? Anyone had luck with those lately?

I’ve heard a few reports of bass making a comeback as well. A friend caught one around 55 cm just a week ago. It’s the perfect time for them. Don’t forget about the tides when fishing!
