AR-15 for Coyote Hunting: Tips and Tricks?

Electronic calls can be powerful! I prefer them because they can cover a wider range of sounds. I’ve had hunters successfully lure coyotes from over a mile away using them.

To each their own! I still like to rely on traditional calls. Sometimes you just can’t beat old-school methods. It keeps things simple and less gear to carry.

Good point! Wind can be limiting. That’s why I always carry a backup. Speaking of which, what’s the best time to hunt? I’ve read that moon phases affect coyote activity.

I totally agree about hunting during the full moon! Coyotes are often more active then, making it a great time to head out. Just be sure to watch the wind for the best results.

Has anyone experimented with using scents? I’ve heard coyote urine can be effective for baiting, but does it really work?

Coyote urine can definitely work, just be sure to place it strategically! Set it near your baiting location, and it’s like sending them an invitation!

True that! But hey, hunting is also about the adventure, so enjoy the ride, right? Even if you don’t get anything, it’s still a great time!

Don’t forget about ethical hunting practices! Only shoot what you are certain you can identify as a coyote. Mistakes can have serious consequences.

Great point! Beyond that, consider using calls to lure them in, which can make for a more ethical hunt.

I’ve found that some areas have specific regulations about using semi-automatic rifles for hunting. Double-check if your AR-15 is allowed where you’re hunting.

Good to know! Ethical consideration is also about minimizing suffering; you want clean kills!

For those unsure about laws, check your state’s wildlife agency website. They usually have up-to-date info on permits and hunting seasons!

So many rules vary by state—what works in one might not in another! Has anyone had luck hunting coyotes with an AR-15 in specific states?

In Texas, it’s pretty straightforward. Just make sure you have a valid hunting license and you’re good to go!
