Anyone been camping at Harold Parker State Forest?

I always tell new campers to follow the Leave No Trace principles. Pack out what you bring in and respect the environment!

Exactly! And don’t forget to dispose of waste properly. It’s important for the area and wildlife.

Is there a good spot for first-time campers to set up tents?

Great question! I recommend the sites near the lake. They provide a beautiful view and access to water for cleaning.

That sounds lovely! Are there any hiking trails nearby? I’d love to explore the area.

There are plenty of trails! The Bay Circuit Trail is excellent for a mix of scenic views and wildlife spotting.

Thanks for the heads-up! Just curious, do you encounter a lot of bugs while camping there?

Yes, bugs can be annoying, especially in the summer! Bring insect repellent and maybe even a net for your head.

Ha! A mosquito net headband would make for a good fashion statement while camping!

Funny you say that, Rachel! But seriously, just enjoy the experience. The memories you make are what counts.

Absolutely! I love how peaceful the trails are. Don’t forget to check out the fishing spots near the campgrounds, too. Great for a relaxing afternoon!

I’ve noticed some hidden view spots when I got off the main trails. Exploring a bit off-path can lead to some really stunning overlooks! Just be careful.

That sounds adventurous! Any specific spots you recommend? I’m up for exploring when I go.

There’s a great fishing spot by the swampy area! I caught some nice bass there. Just bring a canoe if you want to get out on the water.

I live close to Harold Parker and have gone there year-round! Fall foliage is perfect for hikes. Any seasonal activities you’re curious about?

I’d love to see the fall colors! Are there guided tours available, or is it pretty chill to go solo?

It’s mostly chill! Just grab a map from the entrance. There’s a kiosk with maps and pamphlets about seasonal activities.

Does anyone know if there are good spots for picnicking? I might bring the family along.

The picnic area near the entrance is lovely! Plenty of tables and an open space for kids to play.
